Are you planning a trip to Phnom Penh in the near future? If you are, and you’re looking for a place to knock-back a beer or relax with a cocktail, here are some suggestions from our Cambodian Travel Specialist Phan Sophea, an expert on all things Phnom Penh!
Eclipse Sky Bar
Set atop the Hyundai Phnom Penh Tower, Eclipse Sky Bar provides sumptuous 360 degree views from the 22nd floor in the heart of the city’s business district. Having only opened in December of 2012, Eclipse is still the new kid in town and is fast becoming a local favorite among the high society types of Cambodia’s capital for its stylish ambience and swanky cocktails as the sun sets.
Blue Chilli Bar
One of the more ‘adventurous’ bars in Phnom Penh, Blue Chilli Bar attracts a heady mix of expats, locals and tourists with their larger-than-life cabaret shows featuring some of the best drag queens in Southeast Asia. Still somewhat of a novelty, this style of entertainment remains quite fresh in Phnom Penh but although more similar places have begun opening, Blue Chilli Bar is still jumping on weekends with standing room only, so best to arrive early for some light-hearted fun and frolics.
Le Moon has graced the rooftop of the Amanjaya Pancam Hotel since late 2010 and has been ‘wowing’ evening patrons ever since, offering sublime views from this one-of-a-kind terrace in Phnom Penh. From the comfy sofas and stylish chairs, customers enjoy a twilight cocktail while gazing down over the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap Rivers and busy city below.
This little bar in Phnom Penh is breaking new ground in the bar scene in the city and even seems to benefit from a ‘too cool for a sign’ swagger that’s a more common trademark of the uber-cool bars of London, New York or LA. A small, plain door found down a narrow side street allows you entry to the hidden treasure of eclectic interior and buzzing atmosphere, and once inside you’ll find a stylish crowd of young expats and adventurous locals. Bar.Sito is by far one of the best venues in Cambodia for a cocktail, and will be for some time.
