We asked our General Manager Maeve if she’d share her feelings on 2013 – a wonderful year in our Backyard:
The past 12 months has been a significant year for us at Backyard Travel. We officially launched in 2012 and in just a few months over 100 travelers had taken trips with us. From that modest start, I think it’s fair to say we blossomed in 2013.
Over the last year we’ve surpassed even our own lofty expectations, delivering unique experiences to over 700 travelers in the 8 Asian counties we tailor tours to.
I’m delighted to say we’ve been featured in various press publications throughout the year. Our innovate tours were mentioned in The Guardian, Wanderlust UK, Travel+Leisure and CNN to a name a few, recognition which reflects our expertise – but even more importantly, we’ve received amazing feedback from the people who matter most: our happy customers.
It is positive feedback from people who travel with us that keeps us striving for perfection in everything we do, and we take inspiration from every traveler who books with us.
Attention in the press is a lovely thing, but there’s truly no greater reward than a beaming smile, a look of wide-eyed amazement, and kind words of gratitude.
And for that inspiration, we thank you.
Our success this year would certainly not be possible without the dedication and hard work of our regional Travel Specialists. They are the ones behind the scenes, designing tailor-made trips and delivering seamless experiences for each and every one of our valued customers.
On the ground we rely on the patience and diligence of our expert local Backyard Travel guides. These fine souls, who connect face-to-face with our valued clients, are one of the elements that sets our company apart from the rest. They deliver our ethos and carry out our philosophy in the moment and offer our travelers a glimpse of their country and culture.
2013 also presented its fair share of challenges – tribulations that any new business will attest to. Have we created that perfect family tour for the group visiting Bali? Are we able to provide the best guide available for that booking in Shanghai? And has that border crossing been closed on our newly created tour that spans 3 countries?!
These are the kind of challenges that we thrive on – and we’re thankful for the tests. They keep us on our toes. They keep us fresh. Challenges keep us sure we’re giving the best possible experiences to our valued customers on each and every trip.
2014 promises to be an exciting year for us here at Backyard Travel – and for each of our valued travelers. We’ve already planned inspection trips for our Travel Specialists to expand their knowledge even further, and we have plans to expand our portfolio even further to include more destinations in Asia – but we can’t reveal too much just yet.
We’re also giving our website a makeover but once again, we’re keeping the details under wraps for now. One thing I can reveal for certain is that each month we’ll continue to expand our range of inspirational tours and continue to make sure we offer unique elements to all we do.
Bring on 2014!
