Stay in the spiritual and artistic centre of Bali and experience its culture in style. Take art tours with local experts and cooking classes in traditional Balinese kitchens. See village dance and immerse yourself in local culture whilst supporting a community based tourism project.

Go to the beautiful, tranquil, terraced rice fields of Ubud; the spiritual and artistic centre of Bali. In the evening, go to a nearby village to see a performance of traditional Balinese dancing.

Next day, go to the village of Tunjunk to immerse yourself in local life whilst supporting a community-based tourism project. Learn how to harvest, plant or transplant rice with the local farmers. Meet an expert local cook at a traditional Balinese kitchen who will give you a lesson on Indonesian cooking techniques. Try out your dishes for lunch, then embark on an art tour with a local expert.

Your tour will take in classical Balinese and Indonesian art, as well as Bali’s burgeoning contemporary arts scene.

  • Day 1: Ubud

    Your guide will meet you and transfer you to the beautiful, tranquil, terraced rice fields of Ubud; the spiritual and artistic centre of Bali. Check in at your hotel, after which you’ll be taken for dinner at a contemporary Balinese restaurant.

    This evening, go to a nearby village to see a performance of traditional Balinese dancing.Distances & journey time:
    Ngurah Rai International Airport - Ubud (37 km): 1 hour 20 minutes

  • Day 2: Ubud-Tunjunk Village-Ubud

    This morning, go to the village of Tunjunk to immerse yourself in local life whilst supporting a community-based tourism project.

    First, visit the village elementary school; then get ready to help out with the farming. Put on a farmer’s hat and mosquito repellent and collect your mattock (farm tool). The farmer will then lead you out into the fields and show you how to harvest, plant or transplant the rice, depending on the season.

    Afterwards, you’ll have the chance to observe local life in the village. See people climb trees to collect coconuts and learn how cassava is boiled, before taking lunch at the farm.

    In the afternoon, stop at Taman Ayun temple en route to Ubud. Once back in Ubud, relax at your villa or enjoy afternoon tea looking out onto verdant rice fields and the Gunung Agung volcano.Distances & journey time:
    Ubud - Tunjuk Village (30 km): 1 hour
    Tunjuk Village - Taman Ayun, Mengwi (13 km): 30 minutes
    Mengwi - Ubud (18 km): 40 minutes

  • Day 3: Ubud-Balinese Market Visit & Cooking Experience-Art Tour-Ubud

    This morning your guide will take you to learn about the exotic fruits, vegetables, spices and herbs of the local fresh market. Next, you’ll meet an expert local cook at a traditional Balinese kitchen who will give you a lesson on Indonesian cooking techniques. Try out your dishes for lunch, then embark on an art tour with a local expert.

    Your tour will take in classical Balinese and Indonesian art, as well as Bali’s burgeoning contemporary arts scene, with different galleries and museums.

    You’ll start at the former home of Bali’s most famous artist, Antonio Blanco; which is now The Blanco Renaissance Museum and houses an extensive collection of his works.

    Next is the Agung Rai Museum of Art, or ARMA, which has a rich collection of Balinese and Indonesian paintings.

    In the afternoon, see the contemporary collection at Tanah Toh, the woodcarvings at the Tiliem Gallery and the fine art collection of the Rudana Museum.

    In the evening, head to your private villa for sunset cocktails and enjoy dinner at your leisure.

  • Day 4: Ubud

    After breakfast, transfer by private car to the airport for your onward flight; or to your south island hotel if you are continuing your stay.Distances & journey time:
