  • Day 1: Siem Reap

Start your “Cambodia in 11 days” adventure in the northern city of Siem Reap. When you arrive in the city famous for the temples of Angkor you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in.

Refresh and relax at the hotel before heading out for dinner at the exclusive Embassy Restaurant headed by the executive chefs Pol and Sok, known lovingly as the “Kimsan Twins”. The unique five-star dining experience has been heavily influenced by their travels to different countries and the mentoring of Michelin-starred chefs. The menu changes according to the seasons and the multi-course set menus are skillfully prepared masterpieces, which are paired with a selection of wines.

  • Day 2: Siem Reap

You’ll start the second day with a ride in a remork (similar to the Thai tuk tuk) to the famous Angkor Park. Climb through the forest and up the hill to watch the sunrise over the Angkorian plains from Bakheng Temple.

Next you will visit the picturesque Srah Srong baray, which was originally constructed by the same architect that built and remodeled the 12th century Pre Rup as part of Jayavarman VII's building campaign. The multi-tiered landing platform is adorned with Naga balustrades and lion guardians. When it is dry season and the water is low you can also see an island temple poking through in the middle of the lake. Enjoy a beautiful and serene champagne breakfast picnic overlooking the lake while sitting on luxurious cushions, the perfect start to your Angkorian discovery.

Once you’ve finished breakfast you’ll continue your exploration at the mid-12th to early-13th century Ta Prohm temple. This temple is unique in that it remains largely as it was found, overgrown with vines and jungle trees.

You’ll be in for a special treat with a lunch of tasty local cuisines at Marum social enterprise restaurant in Siem Reap.

In the afternoon you’ll visit the iconic temple of Angkor Wat, built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. This temple is designed following the model of the temple of the mountain, which symbolizes the home of the gods, Mount Meru. The inside walls are covered in stone carvings and bas-reliefs of Hindu mythology and depictions of the wars fought during the reign of Suryavarman II. More than 2,000 Apsara dancers decorate the famous temple, which took roughly thirty years to build.

Your adventure will continue at the ancient city of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire under the reign of Jayavarman VII. A perfectly square eight-meter-high wall surrounds the city and an impressive stone gate carved with images of an elephant and a giant face marks the entry point at the South Gate. Fifty-four gods or demons holding the sacred Naga snake line the entrance path.

Watch a spectacular sunset while cruising in a gondola paddleboat on the moat of Angkor Thom. You’ll be able to enjoy cocktails, wines, soft drinks and canapés on the boat.

Spend the evening as you please before attending a “Phare, the Cambodian Circus” performance. The artists of Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS) will perform a family-friendly show starting at 8pm. The circus was founded in Battambang in 1994 by returning refugees who used art and theatre to cope with trauma. PPS continues to play an important role in promoting Khmer culture after the Khmer Rouge genocide. The performance is a story about Cambodian lives and society and mixes traditional and modern theatre with music, dance, acrobatics, juggling and contortion throughout the one-hour performance. Although the circus has arrived in Siem Reap, student performances can still be seen twice a week in Battambang.

  • Day 3: Siem Reap

Today, your 11-day Cambodia tour starts with an exploration of the temple of Banteay Srei, the “gem” of the Angkor area, also known as the “Citadel of the Women.” The temple remains one of Cambodia’s best-preserved temples and displays some of the finest examples of classical Khmer art with its exquisite bas-reliefs. The temple is also unique in that it is the only temple in Angkor constructed from pink sandstone.

Next you’ll visit a local NGO, the Golden Silk Pheach Farm, which helps revive ancient Khmer silk activities and provides over 100 jobs for local staff. On a guided tour one can see the farm area, mulberry trees and weaving activities. Produced from the silkworm, the Golden Silk products are ecological and unique to Cambodia. It can take months if not years to make some of the silk products and is inspiring for any connoisseurs of high-quality craftsmanship.

Enjoy lunch and free time at your leisure back in Siem Reap.

In the afternoon you’ll head out into the countryside to visit the beautiful farming village of Kompheim. Roughly a 25-minute drive from Siem Reap, here life revolves around the seasons and family. Learn about village life, local communities and their simple ways of life on a walking tour. You’ll also get the chance to interact with local people along the way.

Enjoy the Cambodian countryside as you wander past rice fields, buffalo and oxen, and soak in the moment as smiling children rush to greet you.

You’ll also receive a personal blessing from a monk at a local nearby pagoda before finishing the day with a glass of wine and canapés at a local house as you watch the sunset over rice paddies.

Spend the evening at your leisure.

  • Day 4: Siem Reap - Phnom Penh

Transfer to the airport in the morning for your flight to Phnom Penh. Once you arrive you will be welcomed by your local English-speaking guide and driven to your hotel in the centre of the city.

Located at the confluence of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers is Cambodia’s bustling capital. Despite the recent turbulent history of Phnom Penh, the capital still retains its colonial charm and was once considered one of the most beautiful cities of the Orient. Large tree-lined boulevards, colonial buildings and a fusion of Asian and Western traditions add to the fascination of this city.

Once you have checked in to your hotel you will sample some of the colonial history of the city with a visit to the historic and luxurious Raffles for a high-end afternoon tea and glass of champagne.

Spend time to explore at your leisure before embarking on a luxurious sunset cruise onboard the Kanika boat, before dinner at the exclusive Malis Khmer restaurant where you will be able to sample some of Phnom Penh’s best cuisine.

Your Cambodia in 11 days tour sets off this morning on a walking tour of the city. You’ll start in Boeung Keng Kang and then on to the small streets to Wat Lanka, one of the city’s oldest pagodas, and then visit the Independence Monument.

Continue your walking tour to the White Building, which was designed in the 1960s by architect Vann Molyvann. Have a sneak peek inside the housing complex to meet the residents of this close-knit community. This area is also home to The Cambodian Living Arts organization. Take a guided tour led by one of the artists along the streets, check out the rehearsal space where it all started and then continue on to a coffee shop to learn about the building’s history, the organization and the stories of the participants’ lives.

Next you’ll visit Wat Botum Park along the lively riverfront and then on to the Royal Palace, which dates back to 1866 and houses the Silver Pagoda. Originally named Wat Prakeo, which means Temple of the Emerald Buddha, this temple has over 5,000 silver tiles on its floors. Here you can also see a collection of gold, silver, crystal and bronze Buddhas.

Today’s lunch will be at the famous riverside Foreign Correspondent’s Club (FCC). Spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure. You may choose to explore the Central Market for clothes, souvenirs and food or the famous Russian Market, which is the best place to find wood or stone carvings, jewelry, textiles and silk souvenirs.

  • Day 6: Phnom Penh – Sihanoukville

Rise and shine early to visit Wat Botum, also known as the “Temple of the Lotus Blossom,” which has many beautifully decorated stupas. Founded in 1422, this temple is one of Phnom Penh’s orginal five wats. This temple is the foundation of Thammayut (royalist) Buddhist sect, the smaller of the two Buddhist sects in Cambodia. Receive a special blessing from a local monk here for good health and safe travels.

Enjoy some free time before exploring the local crab market where you can see crabs stored in baskets in the shallow water and then cooked in the market. You’ll learn which crabs are the tastiest and how to choose the best ones. The market is fun to visit at any time but is busiest on weekends and on holidays. Enjoy a delicious seafood lunch in one of the rickety wooden shacks that line the water’s edge before returning to your hotel.
In the evening you’ll have a candlelit dinner with a specially designed menu. Dine as you sit at the end of a private jetty, surrounded by the sea.
