BALI FAMILY ADVENTURE

  • Daily Itinerary
  • Day 1: Denpasar – Benoa

Your Bali family tour will begin upon arrival this afternoon at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, where you will be greeted by your Backyard Travel guide and enjoy a chauffeured ride to Benoa in south Bali. This area is famous as a water sport center in Bali.

Your premium family hotel in Benoa is one of the most kid-friendly on the island, with a kid’s club open 12 hours a day and fun activities for both kids and adults. After checking-in to your hotel, you’ll have free time to relax and refresh after your flight. You may want to spend time exploring Benoa on your own. Dinner tonight is at your leisure.

    Overnight in Benoa.

Meals included on this day: None

Bali coast at Pura Luhur Temple area, Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia
  • Day 2: Benoa – Uluwatu

Spend this morning at your leisure to enjoy the accommodations or explore the surrounding area, where plenty of water sports and activities are available.

In the afternoon, we’ll take you to Uluwatu Temple in southern Bali, an important Hindu site inhabited by cute—but very cheeky—monkeys. Positioned on steep cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean, Uluwatu Temple provides the perfect backdrop for the next highlight of the day: a traditional Balinese fire performance called the kecak dance.

For dinner, we’ll take you to spectacular Jimbaran Beach where you’ll be served a delicious dinner of fresh, local seafood.

    Overnight in Benoa.

Meals included on this day: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

  • Day 3: Nusa Lembongan Cruise

Today, your Bali family tour gets active! Enjoy an early breakfast and get picked up at 07:00 a.m. for the transfer to Benoa Harbor. Here, your Bali Hai boat will depart for the nearby island of Nusa Lembongan, a 90-minute cruise away, with snacks and drinks provided. Make sure to pack your swimwear, beach gear, and a change of clothes. Full changing facilities are available at your destination.

Nusa Lembongan is an idyllic island sanctuary with white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lots of activities for the whole family, including snorkeling and a glass-bottom boat tour of the reef. You can take a mangrove tour by boat, explore the village, visit the local seaweed farms and see an intriguing local house that’s dug into the ground. You can also just lie on the beach and enjoy the sunshine, or take a dip in the pool at the beach club.

Lunch is a barbecue buffet on the beach, with complimentary beer and wine included. Your boat will arrive at 16:00 for the trip back to Benoa Harbor, with snacks and beverages provided. We’ll drive you back to your hotel in Benoa. The evening and dinner is yours to enjoy at your leisure.

    Overnight in Benoa.

Meals included on this day: Breakfast and Lunch.

  • Day 4: Benoa – Kintamani – Tirta Empul – Ubud

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before making your way to Kintamani Village at Lake Batur.

The 2.5-hour drive passes through truly spectacular scenery, with panoramic views of lush jungle, rice fields, and volcanic landscapes.

Mt. Batur is still an active volcano, and Lake Batur forms a serene crescent within the caldera, with the steep walls of the crater rising up on all sides. You’ll stop for lunch in a restaurant that offers far-reaching views over Mt. Batur.

Your next family stop is at Tirta Empul Temple, a beautiful Hindu site with a sacred pool fed by natural spring water. Locals come here daily to bathe, offer gifts, and pray.

Next is a visit to Ubud’s cheeky inhabitants in the sacred Monkey Forest. Afterwards you’ll enjoy some free time at the Ubud market where you can watch local vendors selling everything from food and clothes to souvenirs and art.

From here, we will drive you to your boutique hotel in Ubud. The rest of the day and dinner will be at your leisure.

    Overnight in Ubud.

  • Day 5: Ubud

Today you will get a true taste of local culture, traditions, and lifestyles with our Bali family tour.

Your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel for the short drive to Mas. This small village is located 15 kilometers from Ubud and is known for its traditional wood carving. Here you will have a chance to take part in activities that are unique to Bali.

You will first receive a blessing by a priest and then meet with an astrologer who will tell you about your destiny by using ancient methods. Our local guide will translate.

Then it’s time to enter the traditional Balinese compound: you’ll immerse yourself in the typical life of a Balinese and work with a local wood-carver to learn traditional woodworking methods. As a beginner, you’ll be instructed to start with a cake of soap, draw your pattern on carbon paper, and begin to carve. You will be equipped with a complete set of necessary carving tools.

Next, your family will learn about Balinese cuisine. Assist in making regional dishes and watch the local chefs process spices to make a delicious meal. You’ll dine on your tasty creations for lunch.

Transfer back to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

    Overnight in Ubud.

Meals included on this day: Breakfast and Lunch

  • Day 6: Ubud – Munduk

This morning your Bali family tour takes you to the Bali Botanical Garden for zip-lining!

Upon arrival, a professional guide will greet your family. You will be fitted for safety equipment, given safety instructions, and be oriented on how the circuit works and how to use the equipment. Then, you’re free to go on any of the circuits of the Bali Treetop Adventure Park as many times as you wish. We recommend starting with the lowest category, Green Discovery.

After you finish, we’ll drive north to Lake Bratan where you will see the stunning Ulun Danu Temple. The temple is set on several small islands in the lake’s calm waters, giving the impression that it is “floating.” We’ll also have a look at the local market, famous for its vast array of tropical fruits, vegetables, and spices.

Continue driving along a small mountain road that overlookstwo superb lakes: Buyan and Tamblingan. Stop for photos and to enjoy the scenery before descending to the beautiful, remote area of Munduk in Northern Bali.

Arrive in Munduk towards the end of the day, check-in to your hotel, and enjoy dinner (on own account).

    Overnight in Munduk.

Meals included on this day: Breakfast and lunch

  • Day 7: Munduk – Umabian

Munduk is the ideal location for outdoor activities, and this morning you’ll have the chance to explore with a light trek. Munduk is surrounded by tropical rainforest with beautiful waterfalls. Because of its cool year-round temperature (20–25°C), many fruits, vegetables, and spices are grown in the area.

This hour-long trek begins from your hotel. The trek takes you through many plantations growing coffee, cloves, vanilla, avocados, and more. You’ll see how they are grown and harvested.

After your trek, wel’ll drive to Sanda Village via Pupuan along one of the most scenic roads in Bali. In Sanda (or Belimbing for groups), stop for lunch and then descend to the western coast of Bali passing by the small town of Belimbing. The landscape alternates between jungle-covered mountain vistas and amazing rice terraces.

Continue to Umabian and check-in to your beautiful hotel. Designed to resemble traditional houses, the numerous pavilions and guestrooms are laid out in the style of a village compound. Surrounded by rice fields and a swimming pool in the garden, this is an ideal place to unwind. Spend the remainder of today relaxing by the pool, enjoying the peaceful view, or opt to join in the local activities in the village compound. Enjoy dinner at the hotel (on own account).

Overnight in Umabian at Puri Tame Sari Resort

Meals included on this day: Breakfast and Lunch.

  • Day 8: Umabian – Seminyak

Depart this morning and drive 40 minutes to Rumah Desa, where you will have a chance to learn about the Balinese farming system, local traditions, and way of life. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a drink before continuing the program.

First, you will visit a Balinese compound to learn about Balinese culture and explore the tropical plants that grow in this village. This is also an excellent opportunity to engage directly with the villagers.

Your program will continue to the rice fields, where you will learn about the irrigation system, see farmers working, and enjoy a young coconut or seasonal fruits as refreshment. We’ll then walk across a bamboo bridge over the Kajang River and head into the rainforest to see a waterfall. Upon your return to base camp, you will be treated to a traditional Balinese meal surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere.

Following lunch, we’ll drive to the southwest coast of Bali to visit the seaside temple of Tanah Lot, one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast. En route, we’ll also stop at the Royal Temple of Mengwi, built in 1634 to serve as the family temple of the Mengwi dynasty. The temple is a truly stunning piece of historic architecture, surrounded by a moat with multi-roofed meru shrines and intricately carved wooden gates.

You will arrive at Tanah Lot around sunset. This is probably the most famous and most photographed place in Bali. Built sometime around the 16th century, Tanah Lot sits on a large offshore rock that has been shaped continuously over the years by the ocean tide. Depending on the tide, we may be able to walk across the ocean floor to the base of the temple (but not inside—the temple is only open to practicing Balinese Hindus).

At the end of the day, we’ll transfer you to your hotel in Seminyak.

    Overnight in Seminyak

Meals included on this day: Breakfast and Lunch.

  • Day 9: Family Surfing Lesson at Kuta Beach

Your Bali family tour wraps up with an iconic Balinese activity. Kuta Beach is Bali’s most famous surf spot, and today we’ll take you out onto these world-renowned waves. After breakfast at your hotel, we’ll pick you up at 08:30 a.m. and take you to your surf instructors at Kuta Beach. They’ll teach you some basic techniques and you’ll have time in the pool first to practice before heading out to the ocean. Your lesson, including time in the pool and the sea, takes around 2.5 hours, after which you have the remainder of the morning free to explore Kuta. We’ll drive you back to the hotel in Seminyak where you have the rest of the day at your leisure.
