Could this be paradise? Indulge in the best of Bali on a custom-made tour hitting every highlight of this enchanting island.

6 Days, 5 Nights     FROM US$ 803 PER PERSON

We’ll show you the best of Bali on this 6-day, comprehensive tour. We’ve combined the island’s highlights with some hidden local gems to bring you a unique Bali travel experience. You’ll traverse lush jungle and iconic rice terraces, visit world-renowned temples and sacred sites, and even try your hand at living a day in the life of a local Balinese farmer.

Your tour of the highlights of Bali starts with a trip to Candidasa, a hidden seaside gem. Here, you’ll have a full-day guided tour of the unspoiled, lesser-seen Karangasem Province. You’ll visit the water palace of Taman Ujung, followed by an excursion to the Balinese Hindu pilgrimage site of Tirta Gangga. Next, opt for a trek to an ancient village of the first inhabitants of Bali, or an afternoon relaxing on a pristine, white-sand beach.

Next, you’ll journey into Bali’s countryside for an immersive experience in Balinese daily life. Surrounded by the lush greenery of Sidemen, try your hand at planting rice and ploughing fields alongside local farmers. After a refreshing coconut juice, we’ll continue on to the enchanting city of Ubud, one of Bali’s finest urban highlights.

The next day, after a tour of Ubud’s museums and sites, you’ll wind down with a relaxing Balinese massage. A lively performance of traditional Balinese dance and a sumptuous dinner will follow. The next day, a scenic drive will bring you to Jatiluwih, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the famous “floating” temple of Ulun Danu.

On your final day, we’ll make sure you don’t leave this amazing island without a sunset visit to Tanah Lot, Bali’s most famous temple, before transferring you to the airport.

“Bali has so much to offer that it may be hard to choose what sites and attractions are best. But don’t worry, we locals have the best highlights of our beloved island picked out for you.”

Daily Itinerary

  • Daily Itinerary
  • Day 1: Arrival Denpasar – Candidasa

Arrive this afternoon at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar. Your local guide will meet you and transfer you to Candidasa in Karangasem, Bali’s eastern province, roughly a 2.5-hour drive away. After check-in at your hotel in Candidasa, the remainder of the day will be free to spend at your leisure. Feel free to ask your guide about some of the best things to do and see near your hotel and for recommendations on the best local restaurants.

    Overnight in Candidasa.

No meals included on this day.

  • Day 2: Candidasa – Taman Ujung – Tirta Gangga

After breakfast, you’ll hit one of the highlights of Bali with an excursion into the beautiful, less-visited province of Karangasem. You’ll start with a visit to Taman Ujung, also known as “the Water Palace,” a beautifully restored royal palace set in a pond and reachable only by bridge. Built in the early 1900s by the king of Karangasem, the architects of this stunning building were Dutch, Chinese and Balinese.

Next, you’ll head to Tirta Gangga, one of Bali’s sacred water palaces. Its name translates to “water of the Ganges,” and the lush compound is a pilgrimage site for Balinese Hindus. Built in the early 20th century by the last king of Karangasem, the palace houses many decorative ponds and fountains, tropical plant life and natural bathing pools.

Foodies will delight in our next stop: we’ll head to Bali Asli, one of Bali’s most renowned restaurants, for a traditional Balinese lunch. After lunch, you can opt between 2 afternoon activities:

Go on a 2-hour soft trek through the verdant rice fields to Tenganan, one of several ancient villages of the indigenous Bali Aga people. After the trek, we’ll take some time to explore the secluded village.

While away the afternoon on a tropical beach close to Candidasa Pasir Putih. We’ll arrange a sunbed on the white sand and a fresh coconut drink for you. All you have to do is indulge in maximum relaxation.

Return to your hotel in Candidasa in the late afternoon.

    Overnight in Candidasa.

Meals included on this day: Breakfast and lunch.

  • Day 3: Candidasa – Sidemen – Besakih – Ubud

This morning after breakfast, we bring you a unique, immersive experience in local life on the “Balinese daily life” program. We’ll take a scenic 1.5-hour drive into the lush countryside of Sidemen, a pristine and verdant valley region. Upon arrival at a local farming village, you’ll be given a conical hat and bamboo stick. This will come in handy on the next event: a 1-hour walk through green rice fields. Then it’s time to try your hand as a Balinese farmer. You’ll get the opportunity to plough with cows and plant rice alongside local farmers. Your reward for your hard work is a fresh, cool coconut juice.

Next up are 3 short workshops at a length of 20 minutes each. Included are a cooking lesson, arak distillation and iron working. A local Balinese lunch will be served in the village.

A 45-minute drive will bring us to Besakih, commonly known as the “Mother Temple” of Bali. Located on the western slopes of Bali’s tallest volcano, Mt. Agung (2,567 meters), Besakih is the largest and most revered temple on the island. The Balinese regularly visit this sacred site for special ceremonies.

At the end of the day, you’ll be transferred to Ubud for check-in at your hotel.

    Overnight in Ubud.

Meals included on this day: Breakfast and lunch.

  • Day 4: Ubud – ARMA Museum – Ubud Palace

You’ll spend this morning discovering one of Bali’s most enchanting highlights: Ubud. A full-day guided tour will bring you face to face with Ubud’s many charms. We’ll start with a visit to the ARMA Museum (Agung Rai Museum of Art). Here, we’ll peruse one of the best permanent collections of Balinese and Indonesian paintings, which provides great insight into the island’s rich artistic traditions. We’ll also stop at the monkey forest to watch its cheeky inhabitants play in the wild.

In the heart of this lovely town, we’ll visit Ubud’s Royal Palace. Built in the 16th century, the palace continues today to serve as the home of Ubud’s king and the royal family.

You’ll finish this morning’s excursion with a stroll through Ubud Market where a splendid array of food, handicrafts and textiles are sold. Your lunch will be served at Indus Restaurant, one of Ubud’s culinary highlights, which offers breathtaking views over the Tjampuhan River Valley.

Your day will just keep getting better—this afternoon, you’ll indulge in a 1-hour Balinese massage at a local spa. And of course, no visit to Bali would be complete without enjoying a performance of traditional dance. This evening you’ll be treated to a colourful performance at a nearby village.

After the performance, we’ll transfer you back to Ubud for dinner at another of Ubud’s wonderful restaurants, The Bridges.

    Overnight in Ubud.

Meals included on this day: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  • Day 5: Ubud – Batukaru – Jatiluwih

After breakfast and check-out, your guide and driver will bring you to Mengwi to visit the royal Taman Ayun Temple, which is renowned for its many-tiered roofs and vast, surrounding fish pond.

You’ll continue on a 1-hour drive to one of Bali’s finest highlights, Jatiluwih, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll enjoy one of the widest panoramic views available of Bali’s idyllic rice terraces. Nestled on a slope near the holy mountain of Batukaru, this region is known as the “rice bowl of Bali.” It offers one of the finest examples of subak-style rice farming on the island. We’ll enjoy an hour-long walk through the green rice fields and stop for lunch afterwards at a local restaurant.

After lunch, we’ll drive an hour north to Lake Bratan where you will visit the mythical-looking Ulun Danu Temple. Set on a tiny island in the middle of Lake Bratan’s serene waters, the temple appears to be floating.

Finally we’ll continue north on a small mountain road overlooking two superb lakes: Buyan and Tamblingan. You’ll be free to stop for photos and to drink in the scenery before descending to Lovina in northern Bali.

After checking in to your hotel, the remainder of the day is free to spend at your leisure.

    Overnight in Lovina.

After check-out, your guide and driver will pick you up for the 2-hour, 40-minute drive to the south. You’ll pass Belimbing and other rustic, beautiful villages along this scenic route—the landscapes in this region alternate between jungle-covered mountain vistas and lush rice terraces.

You’ll arrive at Tanah Lot late in the afternoon. Known as Bali’s most famous temple, Tanah Lot is a highlight not to be missed. Dramatically set on a small island on the coast, this temple makes for a spectacular setting for you to drink in the sunset.

Afterwards, you will be transferred to your South Bali beach hotel (not included) or to Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar for your onward flight. This itinerary finishes between 18:30 –19:30.
