Just because it’s monsoon season doesn’t mean an Asian beach vacation is out of the question. On the contrary, there are many wonderfully sunny beach destinations throughout the region where travelers can still experience good weather even during the wet season. Low season also has the benefit of being generally less expensive for travel, with popular beaches, resorts and spas less crowded and more relaxing – exactly what you want from a tropical beach vacation.
In Thailand, the wet season hits the Andaman coastline first, so Koh Samui in the Thai Gulf offers mostly dry days and sunshine until the end of October – the perfect way to wind down after an action-packed tour in the northeastern part of Thailand. Vietnam also has some idyllic seaside destinations – the coastal city of Nha Trang is one, conveniently located on the mainland and offering plenty of urban activities to balance time on the beach. Bali – a classic beach getaway – experiences its dry season from May until October, so it’s the perfect place for a sunny seaside trip – and the best time for waves if you’re a surfer.
Further north, an oft-overlooked beach destination is Okinawa. Rich in Ryukyu culture and with an intriguing history, Okinawa Island offers the quintessential island experience, with great beaches, pristine forests and fantastic food. This beautiful island has a laidback lifestyle and friendly locals, plus the largest population of centenarians in the world!
So stay dry this green season – by visiting destinations with sunshine and little rain, the only time you need to get wet is when you’re in the ocean. Contact our local Travel Specialist to find out more.
